San Francisco, CA
(Redirected from San Francisco, California)
San Francisco is located in central California, on a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It was heavily damaged by a massive earthquake in 1906 that was followed by fires which together destroyed 80% of the city's buildings. Oakland, CA lies across the bay, to the east, and San Jose, CA is at the southern tip of the bay, 40 miles south-east. The three cities, along with numerous other cities in the vicinity, are considered to form a single metropolitan area, the second largest in the state after that of Los Angeles, CA, 380 miles to the south.
