Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Baxes played mostly shortstop for the Kansas City Athletics in 1956 and mostly second base for the same team in 1958. In 1956, he backed up Joe DeMaestri while in 1958 he alternated with Hector Lopez at second base while Héctor sometimes played third base. Mike started in the minors in 1949 and played through 1961, missing 1952 and 1953 due to military service. Seven of the years were spent in the Pacific Coast League, and he was sometimes on the same team as his brother Jim Baxes.
