"WINTER BASE BALL... The third of the California League series was contested at Recreation Park, Jan. 13 by the Haverly and Occidental clubs. The diamond was in fair condition, and the game proceeded, after its commencement, with a display of close fielding on both sides. Gagus (sic) of the Haverly Club, pitched strongly throughout and was ably assisted behind the bat by Creegan." - Sporting Life, January 30, 1884
Mark Creegan was born in San Francisco, died in San Francisco, and played ball mostly in San Francisco. He did come east to play with various teams in 1884. In the majors, he appeared in nine games with the Washington Nationals. Charlie Geggus was also on that team and the Reading Actives of the Eastern League.
