Biographical Information[edit]
Bert Cole pitched six seasons in the big leagues, primarily with the Detroit Tigers. Dealing as a swingman in 1923, he finished 13-5 with 6 complete games, 5 saves and a 4.14 ERA in 52 games and 163 innings. He hung around in the minors for many years after his big league days, pitching for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League in 1934. In 1935, he joined the San Francisco Seals, along with his nephew, Bob. With the batting help of Joe DiMaggio from nearby Galileo High School, the club won the PCL championship.
