San Francisco Sea Lions

From BR Bullpen

The San Francisco Sea Lions were members of the short-lived West Coast Negro Baseball League in 1946, representing San Francisco, CA. Toni Stone, one of the few women to play in the Negro Leagues, is probably the club's most famous alumni.

While their time was limited, they were historically important as the sole Negro League team to ever play in San Francisco. In 2021, the San Francisco Giants paid them homage (and brought them out of obscurity) by wearing their uniforms on the occasion of celebrating Juneteenth on June 19th in a game played on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies. This also corresponded with the 75th anniversary of the team.

Interestingly, the team's uniforms did not feature the nominal sea lion, but instead a bear cub, as they had inherited the uniforms from a previous club known as the San Francisco Cubs.
