Rodney Emerson Boone

Biographical Information[edit]

Rodney Boone was a multiple All-League selection at Tustin High School before starting his collegiate career at UC Santa Barbara. At UCSB, Boone earned the 2019 Big West Conference Freshman Pitcher of the Year with an 8-0 record and a 2.78 ERA in 81 innings. Boone was again effective in the Covid shortened 2020 season with a 2-1 record and a 2.53 ERA. In 2021, Boone went 11-3 with a 2.31 ERA in 97.1 innings for the Gauchos. He was named Big West Co-Pitcher of the Year, First Team All Conference, and set the schools single season strikeout record at 128. He was also selected to multiple 2nd Team All-American honors.

Boone was selected in the 8th round of the 2021 amateur draft by the Cleveland Indians. Boone started the 2022 season with the Single A Lynchburg Hillcats starting 10 games going 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA before being promoted to High A Lake County. He would make 13 starts with the Captains going 5-4 with a 4.88 ERA, striking out 74 and walking 21. Boone would stay in Lake County for the entire 2023 season making 17 starts in 18 games pitched with a 4.95 ERA.
