Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Watkins pitched 5 games in September of 1969 for the Houston Astros, which went 81-81 on the season. Watkins had no decisions, pitching 15 2/3 innings while striking out 11 and walking 13. On the Houston staff that year, he, Scipio Spinks and Tom Griffin were all 21 years old. Outfielder Cesar Geronimo was also 21 years old.
Watkins pitched for the Bismarck-Mandan Pards in 1966, with an ERA of 4.42.
He went to Compton High School.
One source says: "In the minors from 1966-1971, he played for 9 teams with 3 seasons at the class AAA level. Bob has lived in Compton, CA, but now lives in Los Angeles." Northern League Players Who Made the Majors.
