Biographical Information[edit]
Heinie Sand belongs to that small group of players who always had at least 120 games and 400+ at-bats in every major league season played. He was mostly at shortstop with the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1920's, at a time when they weren't competitive for the pennant.
On July 4, 1921, Sand turned an unassisted triple play while with the Salt Lake City Bees of the Pacific Coast League.
Sand is most famous for being the person that a couple Giants tried to bribe in 1924. Sand told the major league authorities about it, and it made headlines.
