Biographical Information

Daniel Camou hit .375 as a high school senior, then .295 with a .395 OBP in junior college. As a college junior at Santa Barbara, he was 4 for 16 in 2009-2010. In 2010-2011, he hit .232/.293/.319. He was with the French national team for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but did not get into a game. He did get to pitch for France in the 2014 European Championship but walked four and allowed a game-tying two-run double to Benjamin Dille (in an eventual 5-4 win over Belgium) in 1 1/3 IP, posting a 6.75 ERA (the double by Dille scored two inherited runners).

He played for the Paris Université Club in 2015, going 1 for 7 with three walks and allowing one run in three innings. In the 2015 European Cup, he was a regular for Paris, hitting .231/.412/.385 with four runs in five games to tie for the team lead in runs; he had all 3 of his hits in a romp over the Brest Zubrs. He did not fare as well on the mound, giving up 7 hits, 4 walks and 9 runs (5 earned) in 4 IP in a loss to the L&D Amsterdam Pirates.

Camou was back with France in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He relieved Samuel Meurant in the 8th against Spain with a 5-2 lead, two on and one out. He fanned Lesther Galván but walked Oscar Angulo and a passed ball by Andy Paz made it 5-3. After Camou also walked Luis Guillorme, Pierrick Lemestre relieved to escape the jam as France pulled off an upset win. Camou also pitched in the semifinals against Panama. He relieved Jonathan Mottay in the 7th with the bases loaded, two outs and a 5-4 deficit. He retired Jorge Bishop to escape further harm. In the 8th, he walked Isaias Velasquez and retired Edmundo Sosa before Lemestre was summoned; he would let the inherited run score this time. Camou's 9.00 ERA tied for third-highest on France in the 2017 Qualifiers; only Owen Ozanich and Esteban Prioul were higher.

Off the diamond, he has worked as an athletic trainer.
