Biographical information[edit]
Lesther Galván was a Minnesota Twins farmhand. His brother Deion Galván also played in the minors.
Galván was born in Venezuela but got his baseball start in Spain with the Marlins Puerto Cruz. The Minnesota Twins signed him in 2006, at age 16. He played for Spain in the 2006 World Junior Championship. He hit .375/.545/.438 in the 2007 European Junior Championship to finish 7th in OBP in that event. He debuted in Organized Baseball with the 2007 VSL Cubs/Twins, hitting just .202/.351/.247. In the 2007 Baseball World Cup, he was 4-for-9 with a run, backing up Daniel Sánchez at 2B and Ricardo Rodriguez at DH.
In the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, Lesther was 0 for 19 with a walk and 7 strikeouts as a corner outfielder, though he did register one assist. He played for the DSL Twins in 2008, hitting .224 in 14 games. Again with them in 2009, he hit .190 in 29 games.
