Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Tom Beyers was drafted in the 15th round of the 1979 amateur draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Beyers played in the Dodgers chain from 1979 to 1983. He played for the Clinton Dodgers in 1979 and the San Antonio Dodgers from 1980 to 1983. Beyers did get one game at AAA Albuquerque in 1983, going 2-5 with a home run.
After retiring in 1983, Beyers spent sixteen years coaching and managing in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He was the hitting coach for the GCL Dodgers (1984-1986) and Vero Beach Dodgers (1987). He was the manager of the Salem Dodgers (1988-1989) and Bakersfield Dodgers (1990-1992). He was the hitting coach for the Albuquerque Dukes (1993) and manager of the San Antonio Missions (1994). Finally he was the minor league hitting coordinator from 1995 to 1999.
Beyers joined the Chicago Cubs in 2000 as hitting coach of the Eugene Emeralds. Beyers coached the Boise Hawks in 2001-2003 and 2005 and managed the club in 2004. In 2006 he was the hitting coach of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and in 2007 he returned to manage Boise again and coached Boise once again in 2008. In 2009-2010 Beyers was a coach for the Tennessee Smokies. In 2011 he was the Cubs' minor league hitting cordinator and in 2012 the hitting coordinator for their short-season affiliates. Beyers was a coach for the Kane County Cougars in 2013-2014.
