Biographical Information[edit]
In addition to his three season playing career, exclusively in the original American Association, Bob Blakiston umpired a couple of National League games in 1884.
Blakiston played on the champion Philadelphia Athletics in 1883, mostly appearing in center field.
Born in San Francisco, CA in 1855, Bob played several seasons with San Francisco teams before going all the way across the country to play for Philadelphia. After his major league days, he played several more seasons in the minors.
Bob was born in San Francisco not many years after the gold rush started, at a time when the city had under 50,000 residents.
