Events[edit]
- The season starts with each player on each team wearing a different colored shirt and hat depending on their position. The pitcher wore light blue, the catcher wore maroon, the first baseman wore red and white stripes, the second baseman wore yellow and black stripes, the third baseman wore gray and white stripes, the shortstop wore a lighter shade of maroon than the catcher, the left fielder wore white, the center fielder wore red and black stripes, and the right fielder wore gray. Substitute players wore green and brown. This system was incredibly confusing to both players and fans alike, and it was dropped midway through the season.
- May 2 - The American Association begins play with all 6 teams in action.
