Biographical Information[edit]
Horace Wilson was an American professor of English at Tokyo University during the modernization of Japan after the Meiji Restoration who is credited with introducing baseball to Japan in either 1872 or 1873. He was elected to the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame by the special committee in 2003 in the new century category. He had been a 2nd Lieutenant in the 12th Regiment of the Maine Infantry in the Civil War.
