Biographical Information[edit]
After an 11-game cup of coffee with the Yankees in 1942, Kearse fought and was wounded in France during WWII. He returned, after receiving the Purple Heart Award, and completed his 12-season minor league career. During his last two years playing in the minor leagues, he was a player-manager: Ventura Yankees 1948; Grand Forks Chiefs 1949 (first part of the season); and Paducah Chiefs 1949 (second part of the season]]. Despite an overall losing record and fourth place finish, Paducah prevailed as the league champion in the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League playoffs.
