Biographical Information[edit]

George "Jack" McAdams was in 6 games in relief with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1911, under manager Roger Bresnahan. The Cards had a young pitching staff that year, with an average age of 24, and Jack was also 24. Similarly, the staff had an average ERA of 3.68, and Jack's was very close to that, at 3.72.

Jack pitched four seasons in the minors, most notably going 21-13 with the Argenta Shamrocks. In 1911, the year he came to the majors, he had been 9-6 with the Dallas Giants.

The Arkansas Baseball Encyclopedia has a lengthy biography of him. Arm troubles shortened his career. He was a player-manager in 1909. The St. Louis Browns tried to sign him in 1910, but the deal fell through. After his playing days, he umpired in the minors, worked for a while as a railroad conductor, and later for another railroad. Jack McAdams

Through 2019, he is the only major leaguer with the last name McAdams.
