Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Mickey Shader played minor league baseball from 1912 to 1923.

Shader managed in the minors and was the business manager for the Mount Airy Reds in 1935-1936. He was president of the Tucson Cowboys in 1940-1941 and a scout for the Cincinnati Reds from 1938 to 1945, the New York Giants from 1946 to 1950, the San Francisco Seals in 1951-1952, and the Giants again from 1952 until his passing.

As scout for the Giants, he convinced the club to purchase Larry Jansen when most of the club officials thought the pitcher couldn't make the grade in the major leagues. Shader scouted Thornton Lee, Vince DiMaggio, Gordon Maltzberger, and Ray Lamanno among others.
