Eugene McGreevy spent over a decade in the minors, twice topping 25 wins.
He debuted in 1892 with Vallejo. He split 1893 between Independence-Salem, Albany and the San Francisco Friscos (5-7). He was with the 1894 Quincy Ravens. In 1895, he was 27-22 for Quincy. He was third in the Western Association in wins (behind Fred Barnes and Fred Underwood), tied Bones Parvin for the most losses and led in complete games (47). He spent 1896 with Columbus. Back with Quincy the next year, he was 19-17 for the Quincy Little Giants and hit .262 with 14 steals as a part-time 1B-outfielder. He also managed the squad part of the year. He split 1898 between the Ottumwa Giants (6-8) and Topeka Giants. In 1899, he pitched for the Bloomington Blues (5-5) and in the Three-I League.
McGreevy hit .260 for Bloomington in 1900 (his pitching record is unavailable as of April 2014 on BR Minors). In 1901, he led the Three-I League in wins (28), starring for Bloomington. He pitched 40 games for the 1902 Blues and 30 more in 1903 (the team was now the Bloomington Bloomers). In 1904, he was down to 18 games for Bloomington. He was 8-15 for the 1905 Davenport Riversides to end his career, tying for third in the Three-I in defeats.
He umpired in the Iowa State League in 1907 and the Eastern Illinois League in 1908, and later in the Pacific Coast League. He was an American League umpire for part of 1912 and most of 1913. He retired because of health issues but still worked in the Northwestern League in 1914 and 1915.
