Biographical Information[edit]

Tony Patch was a replacement umpire in the National League when the regular um,pires staged a one-day strike on August 25, 1978. He then worked both National League and American League games in 1979 when the umpires struck for a longer period at the start of the season. Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, Patch made all his NL appearances at Candlestick Park and all of those in the AL at the Oakland Coliseum. He worked 6 College World Series and also was a college football referee.
