Biographical Information[edit]

O'Koyea Dickson came to the majors for seven games in 2017, getting a hit off of Madison Bumgarner. He would have come to the majors in 2016 after a good season in the minors (.328/.398/.596), but an injury kept him sidelined. In 2018, he spent some time playing in Japan.

He began his professional career in 2011 after being taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2011 amateur draft from Sonoma State University. Through 2019, he is one of only five major leaguers out of Sonoma State. One of the others is pitcher Scott Alexander, who was drafted in 2010.

He started his career by hitting .333/.402/.603 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI in 48 games for the Ogden Raptors and followed that with 17 home runs and 11 stolen bases for the Great Lakes Loons. He was a Midwest League Mid-Season All-Star in 2012. In 2013, he had 15 home runs, 88 RBI and 32 doubles for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and was named a Baseball America Low Class A All-Star. In 2014, he had 17 home runs, 73 RBI and 36 doubles for the Chattanooga Lookouts to earn MiLB.com Organization All-Star and Southern League Mid-Season All-Star honors. Despite having a solid 2015 spring training - he hit .316 with two home runs in 19 at-bats - Dickson spent all of 2015 at Triple A, where he had 13 home runs and 50 RBI for the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

He blossomed in 2016 with Oklahoma City, hitting .328 with 18 home runs and a .596 SLG. The following year he hit more home runs (in more games) but his batting average dropped to .246.

In 2019 he played in independent ball, and in Mexico, and in AA ball in the Washington Nationals organization.

Dickson became a hitting coach with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in 2022 and Great Lakes Loons in 2023-2024.
