2017 Asian Championship
The 2017 Asian Championship was held in October 2017 in New Taipei City. The participants were the top four finishers from the 2015 Asian Championship ( Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and People's Republic of China), the top two teams from the 2017 West Asian Cup ( Sri Lanka and Pakistan) and (as there was no East Asian Baseball Cup this year) the two highest-ranked teams that play in the East Asian Cup ( Philippines and Hong Kong. China was a late withdrawal, citing administrative issues and trouble booking return tickets due to the Golden Holiday in that country, denying politics played a role in not going to Taiwan (they had attended the 2012 and 2015 Asian Championships in Taiwan).
