Biographical Information[edit]
Chae-heung Choi was 0-1 with a 1.23 ERA for South Korea when they won Bronze in the 2015 Universiade; he was one of two southpaws on the pitching staff. He was also with the South Korean national team in the 2015 Asian Championship. Facing Taiwan in the opener, he pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings of relief (2 H, 1 BB, 5 K) after replacing KBO veteran Sang-soo Kim; he got the decision in a 8-2 win. In his other outing, he relieved Sang-soo Kim in the top of the 6th with one out and two on, trailing 1-0 against defending champion Japan. He retired Yohei Kawato to end that inning. In the 7th, he allowed a single to Takumi Harada, fanned Takuya Kinoshita and gave up a single to Katsuya Kawashima. Young-il Jung relieved and got out of the jam; South Korea went on to rally for a 2-1 win.
In the 2017 Asian Championship, he pitched one inning, taking over for Hyun Yang in the 8th with a scoreless tie against Taiwan; he allowed one run but South Korea would come back so he did not have the loss.
