Biographical Information[edit]
Yohei Kawato has played for the Japanese national team.
Kawato played for Honda in the industrial leagues after college. In 2009, he was the Industrial League Best Nine shortstop. He was 1 for 12 with two walks, 3 strikeouts and an error in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, splitting shortstop with Ryoichi Adachi. He hit .413 to lead the industrial leagues in 2012. In the 2012 Asian Championship, he was 1 for 7 with 3 walks. He won Gold in the 2013 East Asian Games and did very well in the 2015 Asian Championship, splitting 1B with Yuichi Adachi. He went 6 for 11 with four runs and two RBI while playing error-free ball in the field. He tied Takumi Harada, Toshiyuki Hayashi and Kimio Watanabe for the team lead in hits and tied for third in runs.
