Biographical Information[edit]
Kimio Watanabe played for Japan in the 2010 World University Championship (Bronze Medal) and 2013 East Asian Games (Gold). In the 2015 Asian Championship, he started at short for Japan, going 6 for 14 with a triple, home run (off Xin Li), two walks, two runs and five RBI as Japan finished third. He fielded .941. He tied Takumi Harada for second on the team in RBI, one behind Takuya Kinoshita and tying Toshiyuki Hayashi, Harada and Yohei Kawato for the team lead in hits. He was 0 for 4 and drove in a run as a bench player in the 2017 Asian Championship, when Japan won it all.
