Biographical Information[edit]

Xin Li has been a pitcher for the Tianjin Lions in the China Baseball League. He appeared in the 2012 Asia Series and then was with the Chinese national team for the 2013 World Baseball Classic. He got the tough call of starting against Cuba, giving up 8 hits, 2 walks and 5 runs (4 earned) in 3 1/3 innings before Yu Liu relieved (and fared worse). He remained with them for the 2013 East Asian Games. Li was 0-1 in the 2014 Asian Games, giving up 6 runs in 1 2/3 IP in a losing start against Japan and giving up one run in 1 2/3 innings in a start and no-decisions against eventual champion South Korea. He had allowed 9 hits and 5 walks in 3 1/3 innings for the Games. In the 2015 Asian Championship, the southpaw was again rocked by Japan (6 H, 9 R, 8 BB, 2 K, 1 HB, 1 WP in 3 2/3 IP) in a loss but shut out Pakistan on 3 hits and one walk in 7 innings, fanning 10, before Lei Yu finished the shutout. He led China in walks, innings and strikeouts (5 over Liu) in the event.
