Biographical Information[edit]
Francis Gesmundo has been on the Philippines national team.
Gesmundo represented the Philippines in the 2017 Asian Championship, and he allowed 9 runs (5 earned) in 7 2/3 innings. [1] In the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup, Gesmundo went 0-for-3 with 2 runs against Thailand, and he pitched 3 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts as the starter against Singapore. He was 0-for-3 against Indonesia, then he started against Hong Kong. Gesmundo pitched 7 1/3 innings with 7 strikeouts, and he only allowed 3 runs to get the win. The Philippines won Gold, and he was named the MVP. [2] Gesmundo remained with them for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, helping them win Gold. [3]
He also was with them for the 2019 Asian Championship. He struck out 3 in 4 shutout innings in his debut against Pakistan to beat Rizwan Ali, and he fanned 8 in 7 shutout innings as the starter against Hong Kong, defeating Yu-Chung Leung. Yasuaki Ojima beat him out as the All-Star starting pitcher. [4]
