Biographical Information

Francis Gesmundo has been on the Philippines national team.

Gesmundo represented the Philippines in the 2017 Asian Championship, and he allowed 9 runs (5 earned) in 7 2/3 innings. In the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup, Gesmundo went 0-for-3 with 2 runs against Thailand, and he pitched 3 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts as the starter against Singapore. He was 0-for-3 against Indonesia, then he started against Hong Kong. Gesmundo pitched 7 1/3 innings with 7 strikeouts, and he only allowed 3 runs to get the win. The Philippines won Gold, and he was named the MVP. Gesmundo remained with them for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, helping them win Gold.

He also was with them for the 2019 Asian Championship. He struck out 3 in 4 shutout innings in his debut against Pakistan to beat Rizwan Ali, and he fanned 8 in 7 shutout innings as the starter against Hong Kong, defeating Yu-Chung Leung. Yasuaki Ojima beat him out as the All-Star starting pitcher.
