Biographical Information[edit]

Yasuaki Ojima has pitched for the Japanese national team.

After college, he pitched for Kirayaka Bank in the industrial leagues. In the 2019 Asian Championship, he pitched four shutout inning with 4 Ks against Sri Lanka in the first Game of the Samurai Japan in this event. He then relieved Makoto Hori against Taiwan. After stricking out Chien-Ming Chiang, Wei-Chih Chen hit a double and he walked pinch-hitter Po-Ting Hsiao. Ojima then retired Jin-De Jhang and struck out Min-Shih Chen to avoid a mess. His last game was against South Korea. He relieved Masaru Fujii, pitched two shutout innings and collected three strikeouts. He didn't appear in the Gold Medal Game, and Japan wound up with the Silver Medal. Overall, Ojima was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 9 strikeouts. He was named the All-Star pitcher and won the ERA title in this event (one more shutout inning than Hori, the runnerpu0 while only Shota Abe struck out more batters.
