Biographical Information[edit]

Makoto Hori has pitched for the Japanese national team.

Hori played for NTT Higashi Nihon in the industrial leagues after college. [1] He pitched for Japan in the 2018 Asian Games. Starting against Thailand, he struck out six of ten batters, allowing only one hit (to Chayaphat Suanthong) in three innings before Takumi Takahashi relieved. [2] He also pitched in the Gold Medal Game against South Korea, relieving Ryoga Tomiyama with two on, two out and a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the first. He retired Eui-ji Yang to end the threat then went struck out the side in the 2nd against Ah-seop Son, former MLB player Jae-gyun Hwang and Jung-hoo Lee. In the 3rd, he retired Ha-seong Kim and Jae-hwan Kim before former major leaguer Byung-ho Park homered. Chi-hong An grounded out. In the 4th, he was relieved by Takahashi. [3]
