Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Chayaphat Suanthong was on the Thai national team for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but did not get into a game. Backing up Yannapat Arpornsiri at 1B in the 2014 Asian Games, he was 2 for 4 with two RBI, getting both hits in a win over Hong Kong. He hit .357/.471/.500 in the 2018 East Asian Baseball Cup, including 3-for-5 against Indonesia and was named the tourney's All-Star first baseman (Joseph Daru was the only other Thai player picked).

In the 2018 Asian Games, the veteran hit .833/.857/1.167 with 4 RBI in two games in the opening round. He tied Jack Daru for the best average in that round, tied Gniatou Nalor, Jack Daru and Amila Pushpa Kumara Galbokka Hewage for the most hits (5), was second in OBP (.018 behind Jack Daru), tied for 3rd in RBI (behind Jack Daru and Sahan Avishka Dias Gunasekara Gangoda Gamage) and tied Jack Daru and Alexander Clark for second in slugging (behind Naruephol Muangkasem). Thailand advanced to the main round, where he batted .133/.188/.133 with one RBI in five games against the tougher competition.
