In the 2012 Haarlem Baseball Week, Chen hit .l88/.278/.375 and fielded .917 yet still tied Han Lin for the team lead in runs (2) and RBI (2) on a slugging offense. He was 3 for 20 with a walk, run and 3 errors in the 2013 World Port Tournament. He tied Shurendell Mujica for the tourney lead in errors and had the lowest fielding percentage (.750) of any position player. He played for Taiwan in the 2013 East Asian Games.

Chen was 4 for 20 with a walk and no runs or RBI in 7 games in the 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week, fielding .952. He still tied for second in average on a poor Taiwan attack, behind only Po-Jung Wang. In the 2015 World Port Tournament, he went 2 for 15 with 3 walks, a double, run and RBI in five games while handling 20 chances error-free. He started at the hot corner for Taiwan when they won the Silver Medal at the 2015 Asian Championship, going 6 for 16 with a walk and two runs and with one error in nine chances.
