1954 Asian Championship
The 1954 Asian Championship was the first Asian Championship and just missed being the first continental baseball tournament of any type, following the 1954 European Championship by months. The 1954 Asian Championship was held from December 18 through December 24 in the Philippines.
Philippines won Gold as host, a feat they have failed to duplicate in the next 60+ years. Teodulo Viray threw a no-hitter against Taiwan and held Japan to four hits in the finale.
Japan won Silver.
South Korea took home Bronze.
Chinese Taipei was last.
Each team was making its international tournament debut as the Amateur World Series did not yet include Asian clubs.
