2005 Asian Championship
The 2005 Asian Championship was the 23rd Asian Championship. It was held from May 19 through May 22 in Miyazaki, Miyazaki, Japan. The top four teams qualified for spots in the 2005 Baseball World Cup.
Japan won Gold. They were led by MVP Daisuke Kusano.
Chinese Taipei took home Silver.
People's Republic of China won Bronze, its first Medal ever at an Asian Championship. It had been 30 years since a team other than Asia's "big 3" had won a Medal, when Australia did so in the 1975 Asian Championship. China was the only team in the top four to feature players from its pro league. Nan Wang was named the Best Pitcher.
South Korea finished 4th, their worst finish since the 1969 Asian Championship.
Philippines placed 5th.
Thailand was sixth.
