Biographical Information[edit]

Chia-Yu Lin is an infielder. He was drafted in the 2nd round in 2006 by the Sinon Bulls but did not sign. In the 2009 World Port Tournament, he was 0 for 12, splitting first base with Chia-Hao Chang. He was one of four cuts Taiwan made right before the 2009 Asian Championship, but rejoined Taiwan for the 2009 Baseball World Cup. He went 2 for 10 as a backup, with a homer off Andley Simmons of the Netherlands Antilles being the big blow. He hit .350/.350/.500 in the 2011 World Port Tournament. Splitting time between 1B and LF in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, he hit .188/.278/.188 and played error-free defense again. He batted .250/.280/.250 as Taiwan's main first baseman in the 2017 World Port Tournament. He batted .267/.313/.533 in the 2017 Asian Championship. Hitting 3rd and manning first in the Gold Medal Game, he went 0 for 4 in a loss to Japan. He was a coach for Taiwan in the 2023 Asian Games.
