Biographical Information[edit]

Chia-Hao Chang played in the Chinese Professional Baseball League for 10 years.

Chang was with Taiwan in the 1994 World Junior Championship. He was 5 for 13 with 3 walks and 4 steals in the 1999 World Port Tournament. He also appeared in the 1999 Asian Championship. Chang was the first-round pick of the Sinon Bulls in the 2000 CPBL Draft and signed a deal. He hit only .226/.278/.298 as a rookie in the 2000. He was 2-for-16 in the 2000 Taiwan Series, and the Bulls was beaten by the Uni-President Lions in 7 games. In 2001, Chang batted .231/.286/.287.

The Keelung native was better for Sinon in 2002, hitting .275/.362/.399 with 7 triples and 17 steals in 23 tries. He won a CPBL Gold Glove for his work in the outfield. Chang hit .286/.394/.321 as a second baseman for Taiwan in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup. In the 2002 Asian Games, he injured his wrist. In 2003, Chia-Hao batted .260/.326/.321 with 17 stolen bases in 24 attempts. He won another Gold Glove in the outfield and represented Taiwan in the 2003 Asian Championship, in which they won a spot in the 2004 Olympics.

Chang hit .243/.306/.299 with 14 steals in 18 tries in 2004. He was selected into the 2004 CPBL All-Star Game, and he had a 1-for-2 record with a run scored. In 2005, Chang hit .252/.296/.327 and led the league with his 6 triples. He attended the 2005 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 3-for-4. Chang then played for Taiwan in the 2005 Asian Championship. He was 0 for 2 as a backup for Taiwan In the 2006 World Baseball Classic. He batted .234/.290/.293 in 2006 then missed all of 2007 season with a shoulder injury. He returned in 2008 and hit .215/.289/.235. When the CPBL shrunk from six teams to 4 that winter due to gambling scandals, Chang got released and went to the amateur leagues. He was with Taiwan for the 2009 World Port Tournament, going 3 for 16 with two walks and a double; he played first base mostly.

Overall, Chang hit .241/.306/.310 with 577 hits and 37 triples in 10 seasons in CPBL.
