2005 CPBL
The 2005 Chinese Professional Baseball League season was won by the Sinon Bulls, who swept the Macoto Cobras in the Taiwan Series. The big story was Cobras hurler En-Yu Lin, who was both the MVP and Rookie of the Year.
One sad note to the year involved the death of Cobras outfielder Mario Encarnacion at age 30. Encarnacion had finished second in the league in homers but had also been suspended for a positive test for a banned substance.
