Biographical Information[edit]

Hung-Sen Chu played in the CPBL for 8 years.

Chu was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the first round of the 2002 CPBL Draft, and he went 3 for 7 in 2002. In 2003, he hit only .155/.215/.155 in 28 games. The infielder improved to .242/.263/.297 in 2004, and he became a starter in 2005. Chu batted .224/.286/.265 while stealing 25 bases in 33 tries, and he led the league in swipes with Sen Yang. In 2006, the 28-year-old hit .229/.295/.299. The next year, he was back to part-time duty and batted .183/.218/.220. In 2008, Chu improved to .277/.327/.330 and went 11-for-15 in steals. He fielded .978, his best yet to that point, and won the CPBL Gold Glove award at second base. Chu hit .265/.307/.314 with 14 steals in 2009, and he had a .238/.304/.333 batting line in the 2009 Taiwan Series. The Elephants were beaten by the Uni-President Lions in 7 games. Chu was then involved in a game-fixing scandal, and the league banned him for life.

Overall, Chu hit .238/.290/.286 with 289 hits and 60 steals in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
