Biographical Information[edit]

Hua-Wei Tseng was a 6-time All-Star in the CPBL.

Tseng was signed by the Sinon Bulls in 1999, and he hit .271/.297/.329 in 2000. He recorded a .375/.444/.438 batting line in the 2000 Taiwan Series, but the Bulls were beaten by the Uni-President Lions in 5 games. He hit .264/.309/.345 in 2001 then he improved to .295/.375/.410 with 14 steals in 2002. He was also selected into the 2002 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-1. He ranked 7th in steals in this season, between Sung-Hsien Yang and Chi-Fung Hung.

The Taipei native hit .302/.371/.395 with 6 triples in 2003, and he attended the 2003 CPBL All-Star Game; he was 0-for-1. Tseng ranked 7th in batting (.053 behind Cheng-Min Peng), 5th in hits (26 behind Chih-Yuan Chen) and 2nd in triples (1 behind Chia-Jung Wu). He shined in the 2003 Taiwan Series, hitting .417/.481/.500 and he was named the Outstanding Player of the series, a step below the MVP (which went to Chih-Yuan Chen). The Bulls lost again to the Brother Elephants in 6 games.

Tseng recorded a .282/.377/.435 batting line in 2004, and he only played 61 games because he fractured his finger due to Joe Davenport's hit-by-pitch on April 25. He hit .375/.444/.500 in the 2004 Taiwan Series. The Bulls beat the Lions in 7 games, and Tseng won his first Taiwan Series title. Tseng recovered in 2005, and he hit .305/.363/.432 with 6 triples. He led the league in triples, ranking 9th in batting (.034 behind Peng]]) and 7th in doubles (9 behind Chia-Hsien Hsieh). He attended the 2005 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-2 with a double. He hit .294/.333/.412 and helped the Bulls sweep the Macoto Cobras in the 2005 Taiwan Series.

However, Tseng slumped to .237/.282/.281 in 2006, and he was 0-for-2 in the 2006 CPBL All-Star Game. He bounced back in 2007 as his batting line was .289/.345/.356, and he hit .276/.309/.331 in 2008. The veteran struggled in 2009, and he had a .224/.287/.316 batting line in 52 games. The Bulls then released him, and his professional career ended. He coached the CTBC Brothers in 2015.

Overall, Tseng hit .279/.338/.368 with 713 hits, 104 doubles and 25 triples in 10 seasons in the CPBL.
