Biographical Information[edit]

Chin-Sho Shih is a Gold Glove catcher in CPBL and has played for Chinese Taipei national baseball team.

Shih represented Taiwan in the 1989 World Youth Championship, 1992 Junior World Championship, and 1995 Universiade. The Chinatrust Whales signed Shih in the 2000, and he debuted that year, hitting .177/.268/.258 with 1 homer. Shih mainly backed up Wen-Bin Chen in the 2001 and 2002 seasons, only playing 100 games combined in two seasons. He hit the 60,000th hit in league history on July 19, 2003. When Chen was traded to the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, Shih broke out and was selected for the All-Star Game the first time in his career. He batted .288/.353/.397 with career-high 5 homers, and won hisonly Best Ten award as a catcher. Shih then extended his good performance in 2004 and 2005; he not only participated in the All-Star Game both seasons, but also won his only CPBL Gold Glove award in 2005. However, when rookie Hsin-Min Wang entered the league and recorded an amazing .346 batting average as a catcher, Shih lost the starting catcher spot. The Whales released Shih in 2008.

Overall, Shih hit .238/.308/.317 with 320 hits and 12 homers in 9 seasons in the CPBL.
