Biographical Information[edit]

Krishna Hapurachchige was on the first Sri Lankan national team in an Asian Championship, the 2017 Asian Championship. It is possible he had their first hit as they had two hits in their opener against South Korea's Sung-han Kim; those came from him and Akalanka Ranasinghe. He later had a 4-for-4 day versus Pakistan. He hit .471/.500/.471 with two RBI and one run in five games, leading Sri Lanka in average, OBP, slugging, his (8, two ahead of Sameera Rathnayake) and RBI (tied Asanka Lakmal and Ranasighne); he was second in steals (2-for-2, one behind Rathnayake on the team). Sri Lanka then made the 2018 Asian Games, their first Asian Games baseball appearance. He was their first batter in an Asian Games when he led off versus Laos. The first baseman struck out against Cola Phouangkeo but walked in the second then singled off Soua Xong for his first hit in an Asian Games. He was 2-for-4 with two walks, a steal and a run while handling 8 putouts at first base in a 15-10 win. [2] He went 1-for-4 the next day in a loss to Thailand that eliminated them; he had 7 putouts and an assist. [3]
