Biographical Information[edit]
Sung-han Kim began his career with the 2013 Goyang Wonders, an independent team. He was one of their few players to draw interest from the Korea Baseball Organization, signing with the Samsung Lions. He pitched for Samsung for four seasons in the minors (2014-2017). He starred for the South Korean national team in the 2017 Asian Championship. In his first start, he blanked Sri Lanka in five innings in a mercy rule win (it was Sri Lanka's Asian Championship debut), allowing hits to Akalanka Ranasinghe and Krishna Hapurachchi and nothing else. He then went six innings of shutout ball (3 H, 3 BB) to beat the Philippines (Min-ho Park took over). South Korea won the Bronze Medal. For the event, only Masaki Tanigawa had more innings without an earned run. He tied Kenya Suzuki and Tanigawa for the most wins.
Kim began his military service in 2018 with the military police.
