Biographical Information[edit]
Asanka Lakmal has been on the Sri Lankan national team.
He hit .267/.389/.333 in the 2017 Asian Championship with two runs, two RBI and three walks. He led Sri Lanka in walks, had their first extra-base hit ever in an Asian Championship (a double), tied Sameera Rathnayake for the team lead in runs and tied Akalanka Ranasinghe and Krishna Hapurachchi for the team lead in RBI. The outfielder had 12 putouts, one assist and no error. [1] He had a 3-RBI game against Iran in the 2019 West Asian Baseball Cup; Sri Lanka won the event [2]
He hit .400/.455/.600 with two doubles, a run and two RBI in three games in the 2019 Asian Championship. He tied Sandun Madushanka for the team lead in doubles; only Madushanka and Amila Pushpa Kumara Galbokka Hewage had better averages for Sri Lanka and he led the team in slugging. He tied for 7th in the event in two-baggers. [3] He has served in the Sri Lankan Army. [4]
