Biographical Information[edit]

Sandun Madushanka has been a regular for the Sri Lankan national team.

He was with Sri Lanka for the 2015 East Asian Baseball Cup. [1] In the 2017 Asian Championship, Sri Lanka's first Asian Championship, he hit .176/.222/.176 with one run in five games, fielding .923. [2] In the 2018 Asian Games, Sri Lanka debuted in baseball in an Asian Games. He started at third base and hit third in the opener. He singled off Laos's Cola Phouangkeo in his first at-bat, then singled off Soua Xong to bring in Amila Galbokka Hewage. He finished the day 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly, walk, two runs and three RBI as Sri Lanka won its debut. [3] In game 2, with a spot in the main round at stake, he was 1 for 4 with a single off Kevin Kawin Irwin in a loss to Thailand. [4] He tied Alexander Clark and Suratit Faengsup for 6th in the preliminary round in RBI. [5]

Madushanka was on the Sri Lankan team that won the 2019 West Asian Baseball Cup. [6] In the 2019 Asian Championship, he got one of their two hits off Yasuaki Ojima in a loss to Japan and had 3 hits against the Philippines. He finished at .429/.467/.571 with two doubles, one run and two RBI in five games. He led Sri Lanka in average (.017 ahead of Galbokka Hewage), OBP (.012 ahead of Asanka Lakmal), doubles (tied with Lakmal) and RBI (tied) and was second in slugging (.029 behind Lakmal). For the event, the third baseman led all players in assists (15, 3 ahead of Adriane Ros Bernardo) and tied Kazuya Shimokawa for 9th in average. [7]
