Biographical Information[edit]
Tsubasa Irei played for Oji in the industrial leagues after college. He made the Japanese national team for the 2017 Asian Championship. In that event, he hit .417/.462/.500 with 6 runs and 7 RBI in five games. He tied for third on Japan in runs and tied Shoji Kitamura for 3rd in RBI. A first baseman, he had 15 putouts, 2 assists and no errors. He struck out in his lone at-bat in the Gold Medal Game, a win over Taiwan. Against South Korea, he broke a scoreless game in the 8th by driving in the first run.
