Biographical Information[edit]

Daiki Tajima was on the Japanese squad that won Bronze at the 2011 World Youth Championship. After high school, he played for JR East in the industrial leagues. In the 2015 Asian Championship, he was again with Japan for a Bronze Medal. He threw five perfect innings, fanning six against Pakistan, before Masahiro Abe threw a frame to complete the combined mercy rule perfecto. In his only other game, he relieved Taisuke Yamaoka with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 5th against Taiwan. He fanned cleanup man Chih-Chieh Su but walked Yu-Cheng Chang to force in a run and put Taiwan ahead, 1-0. Tomohito Sakai relieved Tajima; Japan would lose, 3-1. He also pitched for Japan in the 2017 Asian Championship, getting the start in the finale against host Taiwan. He threw five shutout innings, allowing three hits and three walks while whiffing five in a win; Keita Watanabe took over in the 6th. He was named tournament MVP.
