Biographical Information[edit]
Keita Watanabe pitched for NTT Higashi Nihon in the industrial leagues after college. He helped the Japanese national team win Gold at the 2017 Asian Championship, pitching twice. He struck out two in a scoreless inning against Hong Kong, though he allowed a triple to Hoi-Ting Cheng. In the Gold Medal Game, he relieved Daiki Tajima with a 5-0 lead in the 6th against Taiwan and allowed two hits and one run in one inning before being relieved by another Keita, Keita Hirao. He was picked by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 5th round of the 2017 NPB draft and began his pro career in the minors.
