Biographical Information[edit]
Tomohito Sakai has pitched for Osaka Gas in the Japanese industrial leagues. In the 2015 Asian Championship, he was on the Japanese national team and made one appearance. Relieving Daiki Tajima in the 5th inning against Taiwan with a 1-0 deficit (in a game that would determine second place and third place), two outs and the bases loaded, he retired Chia-Wei Huang to escape the jam. He allowed a double to Wei-Chih Chen in a scoreless 6th then Japan tied it in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th, he got the first two outs but served up a home run to cleanup man Chih-Chieh Su, which would determine the game. Masahiro Abe then relieved him.
