Biographical Information[edit]
Chia-Wei Huang has caught for the Taiwanese national team.
Huang appeared in the 2001 World Youth Championship. In the 2013 World Port Tournament, he hit .190/.250/.190 and allowed 7 steals in 7 tries but drove in four runs in six games to tie Dwayne Kemp for the tournament lead. He played in the 2013 East Asian Games then batted .188/.188/.250 with no runs or RBI in the 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week. In the 2015 World Port Tournament, he went 4 for 10. He was a backup C/1B/DH in the 2015 Asian Championship, going 2 for 8 with 2 walks, 3 runs and 3 RBI for the Silver Medalists. He hit .320/.433/.400 in the 2017 World Port Tournament. In the 2017 Asian Championship, he was Taiwan's main backstop, hitting .214/.353/.500 with 3 runs and 2 RBI in 5 games; all 3 of his hits went for extra bases. He fielded .982 and allowed 6 steals in 7 tries. In the Gold Medal Game, he was 0 for 3 before being replaced by Yu-Chieh Kao.
