Biographical Information[edit]
Sang-chul Moon has played in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.
A corner infielder, Moon debuted with the expansion kt Wiz in 2015, hitting .163/.230/.275 in 80 AB in 51 games. In 2016, he had 80 at-bats again (this time in 48 G) and batted .200/.253/.325. He dominated the Korean minors in 2017, hitting .339/.395/.696 with 36 homers and 101 RBI in 91 games, but did not get a call back to the big club.
He played for South Korea in the 2017 Asian Championship, starting at first base. He batted .292/.370/.458 with 7 runs and 7 RBI in six games. He tied Ho-yeon Lee and Dae-in Hwang for the team lead in runs and tied Min-jae Choi and Min-hyeok Kim for third in RBI. He homered off Juan Lozano of the Philippines. In the Bronze Medal Game, also against the Philippines (he had driven in 7 in their first two matches against them), he was 0 for 5 from the cleanup slot but his team won, 15-0. He made the tournament All-Star team at 1B; Kim and Hwang were the only other South Koreans chosen.
