1951 Rule V Draft
The major league 1951 Rule V Draft was held November 19-20 in Cincinnati, OH, while the minor league phase was held December 3-5 in Columbus, OH. 180 players total were drafted by the major and minor league clubs at a total cost of $484,000. 18 players were drafted by major league teams, while minor league teams selected 162 players. Additionally 2 umpires were selected by minor leagues.
George Schmees was the first pick of the major league draft. Frank Biscan was the first pick of the minor league draft.
