Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Remy LeBlanc, brother of Roland LeBlanc, played in the minor leagues in 1942 and from 1946 to 1954. He began his professional career at 17 years old.

Though he had some solid seasons before 1950, it was then—when he hit .291 with 24 home runs in 131 games for the New Iberia Rebels—that his career took off. Back with New Iberia (now the Pelicans) in 1951, LeBlanc hit .298/.410/.612 with 42 home runs (to lead the Evangeline League), 130 RBI, 34 stolen bases and 139 runs scored in 132 games. Then with the Open-designation Wichita Falls Spudders (who had taken him in the 1951 Rule V Draft) in 1952, he hit .291/.393/.518 with 30 home runs, 91 RBI, 30 steals and 141 runs scored in 132 games. After a down year in 1953, he returned to New Iberia to finish his career—and he went out with a bang, hitting .319/.418/.623 with 42 home runs, 129 RBI, 28 stolen bases and 146 runs scored in 140 games. He led the Evangeline League in home runs and runs scored.

Overall, he finished with at least 1,000 hits and 175 homers.

He served in the United States military during World War II.
